The number of children who are obese or overweight is growing at an alarming rate. Extra pounds put kids at risk of serious health problems, including diabetes, heart disease, and asthma. Research demonstrates gardening promotes a healthier lifestyle and combat childhood obesity. When children help to grow their own fruits and vegetables, they are more interested in eating them. Gardening not only gets children off of the couch and outdoors, but it also counts as physical activity.

Research supports the benefits of school gardens. Tower Gardens (aeroponic and hydroponic growing) in schools help students build a healthy future for our communities and the planet in the areas of (STEM) science, math, engineering, technology, agriculture, sustainability, locavore movement, living gardens, food preparation - growing methods and nutrition. Tower Gardening Project Based Learning also encourages physical activity, team work, cooperation and teaches responsibility.  PLUS Juice Plus+ Tower Gardens are portable and can be rolled from classroom to classroom.

Children typically like to eat vegetables they grow and are proud to offer them to others. Being able to come to the table and say I grew that lettuce' can be a real boost to a child's self-esteem. - Kansas State University Research and Extension 4-H Youth Development

Global Teacher Prize Finalist, Stephen Ritz, Green Bronx Machine project supports incorporating Juice Plus Tower Gardens in utilizing school education programs. ATL URBAN FARMS

Calculating return on investment (ROI)
An independent analysis conducted by ATL Urban Farms, a commercial Tower Garden farm and seedling provider found that the total value of the Juice Plus+ Tower Garden yields over six months is $796, exceeding the cost of the initial investment ($692).
